How we came to find ourselves at the lavish Perrys Landing to photograph the wedding of Lynsey and Jeremiah is a complicated matter that involved brothers, nephews, wives, shots and Wednesday dinners plus a previous wedding in the extended family at a plantation house in Aiken, South Carolina. Needless to say, we were thrilled to travel to the deep south and be part of their fantastic day. We expected warmer temperatures than we had, and the weather was just perfect for a Memorial Day weekend wedding. The Lynsey and Jeremiah looked smashing and in addition, we had horses, chickens, toddlers, fireflies and a sweet vintage Thunderbird plus some awesome sparkler action. Heading up to the Kitsap Peninsula to photograph the wedding of the daughter of an old friend was very much a trip back into time. With the ceremony at the very chapel I went to as a kid, and the area surrounding it having barely changed, it drew up long forgotten memories. Along with the scent of salt water and a heavily laden pine forest, were the familiar sounds of people coming together to celebrate the marriage of two of the nicest people I have ever met. With one cow¬† and one donkey as wedding crashers, the party moved to 20 acres of Pacific Northwest farm and continued into the night. I saw some old friends I hadn’t spoken with in over 30 years and made some new ones as well. The best part? I’m going back in a couple weeks to do it all over again for her lovely sister Sara’s wedding.
