Asha and Rob are two of the coolest Australians we’ve ever had the pleasure to meet and just downright fun people. The day started out as a simple wedding but alas, simple wasn’t in the deck that day. We did some fun getting ready photos and then off to the chapel where all was well. Then afterwards the limo broke down in the 7-11 parking lot and the real party started right there. Never faltering for a moment, everyone just rolled with it and had an absolute blast. Having never photographed a couple near a 7-11 or Vegas bus stop either by accident or design, we took the opportunity to come up with some downright unexpected and killer images.

Oh yeah, did I mention it was storming all around us that day? Nothing like moody weather to make it all come together. Yeah!

Two very cool people, one awesome location.

The Nevada desert environment offers so many different areas to explore, it’s often hard to pick just one. For the combination of green foliage and red rocks I knew just where to go. Coming from cold and blustery Syracuse, New York, these two were happy to be out in the warm sun and up for a nice hike through the lush and prickly high desert plains that surround our lovely valley. With James on gear lugging and flash holding, we traipsed about the wild and rocky canyons and came up with some amazing images.

Who doesn’t love a countryside farm wedding outside of Bremerton, Washington? A real one mind you, with actual horses, cows and cowboy boots on a real farm. This was an exceptional one because I had been at the same farm only a month prior and while it’s not uncommon to see the same venue twice in a month, this was a rare case indeed. This farm had only seen two other weddings, first was the mother of the bride some 22 years ago, and second was Sara’s sister Allison and her dapper husband Michael not a month earlier. So imagine my excitement to be able to photograph not just one but two gorgeous sisters one month apart at the same location. We also did a sisters bridal session the following day, but that’s a different post.

Of course, Allison’s wedding was record high temps, so Sara’s had to be the first day of rain in months. That’s fine with us, we love inclement weather. So with hairdryer in hand in case we needed to dry her dress, the ever brave Sara and Levi took to the vast expanse behind the ceremony location for a stunning session before the ceremony, which by the way was infused with hay bales for seats and some classic trucks that you just don’t find down here in the desert. We had some wedding crashing beasts and BBQ to boot.

It was, plainly put, an exquisitely intimate and beautiful day filled with wonderful people. I’m proud to have grown up in this area and it was great to see old friends and make new ones.

How we came to find ourselves at the lavish Perrys Landing to photograph the wedding of Lynsey and Jeremiah is a complicated matter that involved brothers, nephews, wives, shots and Wednesday dinners plus a previous wedding in the extended family at a plantation house in Aiken, South Carolina. Needless to say, we were thrilled to travel to the deep south and be part of their fantastic day. We expected warmer temperatures than we had, and the weather was just perfect for a Memorial Day weekend wedding. The Lynsey and Jeremiah looked smashing and in addition, we had horses, chickens, toddlers, fireflies and a sweet vintage Thunderbird plus some awesome sparkler action. Heading up to the Kitsap Peninsula to photograph the wedding of the daughter of an old friend was very much a trip back into time. With the ceremony at the very chapel I went to as a kid, and the area surrounding it having barely changed, it drew up long forgotten memories. Along with the scent of salt water and a heavily laden pine forest, were the familiar sounds of people coming together to celebrate the marriage of two of the nicest people I have ever met. With one cow  and one donkey as wedding crashers, the party moved to 20 acres of Pacific Northwest farm and continued into the night. I saw some old friends I hadn’t spoken with in over 30 years and made some new ones as well. The best part? I’m going back in a couple weeks to do it all over again for her lovely sister Sara’s wedding.
